Triund Trek – A Beautiful Trek Near Dharamshala

It is the gift of nature that there are various beautiful tourist attractions in Himachal Pradesh. There are various trek routes that exist in Himachal. One of the most amazing treks is Triund Trek which is nearby Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. It offers you astonishing views of Dhauladhar Himalayas and the charming beauty of McLeodganj, Dharamshala. This trek can be attempted by all age groups however the minimum age is 9 yrs.

The Triund trek route goes through the forest trail where you can experience the aroma of Himalayan forest and flowers. Throughout the way you will experience Oak, Deodar and Rhododendron trees. Those who want to do trekking with a picnic for them it will be the best hot spot. Camping at the Triund will provide you a new kind of experience. If you do not want to do camping there then you can return the same day the only condition is that you have to start early.

Best Time For Trekking

The best time to do the trek at this route is from the month of March to June and from the month of September to Mid December. During the monsoon due to heavy rainfall, it is not advised to trek on this route as there may be a chance of land sliding or rainstorms. This trek is also closed during the heavy snow-fall. In the remaining time, the weather remains pleasant and suitable for trekking.

How to Reach?

To reach Triund you have to reach Mcleodganj or Dharamshala. There are many modes of transportation like bus or tourist private taxis that are available from Chandigarh and Delhi. By an overnight journey, you will reach Mcleodganj in the early morning.

By Road-

Mcleodganj is well connected with Delhi and Chandigarh by roads and it will also be the best option to reach there.

By Train

Pathankot railway station is the nearest railway station from there you can board on the government/private bus or you can hire a private tourist cab.

By Air

Gaggal Airport is the nearest airport to the Mceodganj however there are very few flights so it will be better if you reach Delhi then take road transport to reach there.

The Itinerary

Day 1- Dharamkot to Triund

The starting point of this trek is Dharamkot, which is 2 km distance from Mcleodganj. The total distance you have to cover is 8km and it will take 3-4 hrs to reach the Triund top. As you reach their rest for a while in your tent and get ready for the best sunrise which you have never experienced before. After watching this magic of nature. Enjoy the dinner and also experience stargazing from the campsite.

Day 2- Spectacular Morning at Triund and Trek Back To Dharamkot

Wake up before the sun and get ready to see the breathtaking golden sunrise. As the sun starts to rise you will be spellbound by seeing golden rays above the snow-clad mountains. By the reflection of rays color of Dhauladhar Peaks will become golden for a while. After experiencing the sunrise, relax for a while and have breakfast. Then descend towards the Dharamkot. Now the trail is known to you so enjoy it till you reach the Dharamkot.

After reaching Dharamkot, have some relaxation and board on the bus for your ongoing journey with the best memories of the trip.

● In place of using a plastic bag try to use bags made by paper or cloth material. In any case, if you have used it then dispose of it properly.
